artist's statement

I have been working with print based media almost exclusively since 1997. Although the success of the final image is always important, I also find my interest drifts to the processes of printmaking - the plate making, proofing, colour & paper choices and printing techniques.
I tend to limit choice subject matter to just a few themes but vary the treatment and technique to suit the image. The natural environment provides a wealth of material for inspiration and, while delighting in celebrating nature's beauty, I also attempt to draw attention to its fragile, ephemeral quality.

prizes & commendations

2011 First in Printmaking for Mimi Country II, ASMA(NSW) Annual National Awards, Judge's comments (Lucy Culliton): Lovely drawing & subtle colour.
Printmaking Prize for Autumn Banksias, North Sydney Art Prize 2011. Judge's Comments (Nafisa Naomi): Translates the feeling of the bush and banksias beautifully into the medium - with soft scratchings, and strong contrasts, the resilience of the banksias stand as a reminder of the Australian bush which thrives amongst our urban landscape.

Highly Commended, Printmaking for Day Break, ASMA, (NSW). Judge's comments (Lou Klepac): A delightful little gem. Shapes & colour which might rival a Wynne Prize painting.
2006 Printmaking Prize for Windy Harbour: North Sydney Art Prize, North Sydney Council. Judge's comments (Ivan Freehelly, Raymond's Framing): Depth of colour captures the spirit of being taken away on a ferry trip, creating a feeling of tranquillity. (Eckersleys) :Gorgeous sense of depth in the water, as though one may dive right in. Great technique, interesting composition.
